Position Title: Strategic Communications Manager

Position Description:
The Strategic Communications Manager plays a critical role in advancing EO&Co.’s strategic communications work across advocacy, movement-building, and electoral clients. This position partners closely with the Directors of Strategic Communications to translate high-level strategy into strong materials, and ensure client work is timely, message-disciplined, and aligned with broader narrative goals.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor, a thoughtful strategist, and a reliable project manager who thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. This role is designed for someone who can own workstreams, support rapid-response moments, and contribute meaningfully to strategy development, while learning from and collaborating with senior leadership.
Core Responsibilities:
The Strategic Communications Manager will be responsible for a mix of strategic planning, execution, and collaboration, including but not limited to:
Support day-to-day execution of communications strategies across multiple client accounts and initiatives, translating senior-level direction into clear plans, timelines, and deliverables.
Draft, edit, and oversee high-quality strategic communications materials, including press releases, op-eds, talking points, messaging documents, narrative frameworks, and toolkits.
Play a central role in rapid-response communications during breaking news moments, supporting message development, review, and coordination to ensure speed, accuracy, and discipline.
Conduct and synthesize research and media landscape analysis to inform strategic recommendations, message refinement, and proactive planning.
Maintain message discipline and narrative consistency across clients, partners, and coalition spaces, flagging risks and opportunities to senior leadership.
Collaborate closely with digital counterparts to ensure alignment between earned media, narrative strategy, and digital amplification.
Manage project workflows by tracking tasks, deadlines, approvals, and dependencies to ensure work stays on schedule and meets quality standards.
Participate actively in client and coalition meetings, contributing strategic insight, capturing decisions, and driving follow-through on action items.
Support preparation of weekly client updates, reports, and briefing materials, helping translate activity into clear progress and next steps.
Provide guidance and light oversight to Strategists as needed, supporting strong execution and professional growth.
Required Experience
5–7 years of experience working as a press officer, strategic communications strategist, or similar communications-forward role.
Demonstrated experience working on progressive advocacy, movement-building, and/or electoral campaigns.
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and message for different audiences and platforms.
Established press relationships across key media demographics.
Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, including during rapid-response moments.
Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Experience working collaboratively with senior leaders while owning day-to-day execution.
Familiarity with earned media, narrative strategy, and integrated communications approaches.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Drive
Fluency in English; Spanish-language proficiency is a plus
Preferred Experience and Skills
At least two electoral cycles managing or contributing to digital communications within an organization, IE campaign, or candidate campaign.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Comfort working in coalition environments and with diverse partners and stakeholders.
Ability to translate strategy into clear, actionable tactics and materials.
Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach to work.
Commitment to progressive values, equity, and social justice.
Travel Requirements:
There may be travel required, but no more than 2 trips per quarter.
Salary and Benefits:
This role is compensated at a flat monthly rate of $10,500 with full-time capacity expected. This is a contract position, not an employee role, and does not include employee benefits such as health insurance or retirement contributions. This role is currently set to start February 2, 2026 through December 31, 2026 with a possibility to renew in January 2027.
